Catholic Values Trust
To achieve a return (after fees and expenses) that exceeds CPI by at least 3% per annum, measured over rolling seven-year periods, while investing in accordance with the Catholic Values Policy.

Trust overview
The Trust is an unlisted, unregistered, open-ended unit trust established specifically for tax-exempt Catholic entities seeking investment opportunities aligned with Catholic values, beliefs, and ethical principles.
Investment Objective
The Catholic Values Trust aims to deliver long-term investment returns that exceed Consumer Price Index (CPI) inflation by at least 3% per annum (after fees and expenses), measured over rolling seven-year periods. All investments are managed in accordance with the Catholic Values Policy, ensuring a responsible and values-aligned investment approach.
Investor Profile
The Catholic Values Trust is designed for investors seeking a socially responsible investment strategy grounded in Catholic values, without compromising long-term returns.
This Trust is suitable for investors who:
- Are comfortable with investment market fluctuations
- Understand that negative returns may occur in some periods
- Have a long-term investment horizon of at least seven years
Catholic Values Policy
All investments must first meet strict investment fundamental criteria before being assessed for compliance with the Catholic Values Policy.
Global equities are accessed through wholesale unlisted trusts. As a result, the Catholic Values Policy is applied on a best-fit basis within these asset classes. This approach may result in minor, indirect exposure to restricted activities, while maintaining alignment with Catholic ethical investment principles.
Investment Policy
The Trust’s assets are managed by SGH’s internal investment team, supported by carefully selected external specialist investment managers. Managers are chosen based on their demonstrated expertise in specific asset classes.
The portfolio is structured to maintain a long-term strategic allocation of approximately 65% growth assets and 35% defensive assets, balancing capital growth with risk management over the investment cycle.
